Primary Stages announced its 2026-27 season at 59E59 Theaters, including the inaugural project in the Primary Stages Studio Series, which offers artists a professional space to test their boldest ideas, as well as the launch of their new Flex Pass ticket program.

The season will kick off in 59E59’s Theater A with the world premiere of Fantasma (November 7-December 20) by Benjamin Benne and directed by Laurie Woolery, presented by Primary Stages and Lucille Lortel Theatre in association with Jan McAdoo. On Christmas Eve, three generations of women gather in Rosie’s newly renovated kitchen to make chuchitos, a traditional Guatemalan recipe.

Aasif Mandvi: A Work in Progress (January 9, 2027-February 6, 2027), written by and starring Aasif Mandvi and directed by Kimberly Senior, will be the inaugural Studio Series project. The deeply personal solo show is part immigrant epic, part celebrity confession, and part 3am parental spiral.

The season will conclude with the world premiere of Baby Shower Katie (February 27, 2027–April 11, 2027) by Beth Hyland and directed by Jaki Bradley. Across four baby showers (thrown for three different women named Katie), Rebecca, who desperately wants a child, and Hannah, who can’t imagine anything worse, are forced to confront their divergent dreams, the absurd expectations placed on mothers, and the terror and uncertainty that can surround pregnancy. Baby Shower Katie is a co-world premiere with Round House Theatre in Bethesda, Maryland.
