The play covers Plath's life from her early years in Boston to her infamous suicide attempt in 1953 to her troubled marriage to the poet Ted Hughes. Plath is best known as the author of The Bell Jar.
Torn starred on Broadway in Side Man and her many other stage credits include Vivat Vivat Regina, Death and the Maiden, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and From Riverdale to Riverhead. She is the daughter of Rip Torn and the late Geraldine Page.
