Disney Developing Stage Adaptation of Dumbo with Stephen Daldry
Disney Theatrical Productions is collaborating with Tony Award winning director Stephen Daldry on a stage adaptation of the 1941 animated film, Dumbo, according to The New York Times.
The Times quotes an unnamed Disney executive as stating that the idea for the musical originated with Daldry, but is in “the very initial stages,” with no creative team set, and no planned date for its debut.
Daldry won Tony Awards for his direction of Billy Elliot the Musical and An Inspector Calls, and is a three- Academy Award nominee for The Hours, The Reader, and Billy Elliot.
