Patti LuPone Reveals Plans to Star in Douglas Carter Beane's Shows for Days

Though casting is not yet official, LuPone announced the news in a recent interview.

Broadway legend Patti LuPone has announced plans to star in Douglas Carter Beane's Shows for Days at Lincoln Center. The production is set to begin previews on June 4, with an opening set for June 29, at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. Jerry Zaks will direct.

Though no official casting announcement has yet been made, LuPone revealed her plans to star in the play during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter about her role in the opera The Ghosts of Versailles at the L.A. Opera. LuPone was also announced to participate in workshopping a new musical, War Paint, by Scott Frankel, Michael Korie, and Doug Wright.

Shows for Days is described as the playwright's "remembrance of his immersion into a life in the theater." Set in Reading, Pennsylvania, in 1973, the comedy follows Car as he enters the world of local community theater.

According to Lincoln Center's website, casting and design team for Shows for Days will be announced at a later date.
