Emmy- and Tony Award-winning actor Mandy Patinkin will once again star in Rinne Groff’s Compulsion when the play is performed at The Public Theater, February 1 – March 13. Oskar Eustis will direct the production.

The play centers on Sid Silver (Patinkin), a man obsessed with the diary of Anne Frank. The character is inspired by Meyer Levin, the journalist and screenwriter who helped publicize the existence of the diary, and who came to believe that the chance to adapt it for the stage had been stolen from him.

Patinkin has previously played his role at Yale Repertory Theatre and Berkeley Repertory Theatre, under Eustis’ direction. He will be joined by Hannah Cabell and Matte Osian.

The creative team will include scenic designer Eugene Lee, costume designer Susan Hilferty, lighting designer Michael Chybowski, sound designer Darron L West, video and projection designer Jeff Sugg, and puppet designer Matt Acheson.
