Benj Pasek and Justin Paul Win ASCAP’s 2011 Songwriter’s Fellowship Award

Musical theatre writers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are the winners of the 2011 Songwriter’s Fellowship Award, overseen by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).

The honor was initiated by songwriter and Tony Award nominee Ann Hampton Callaway to recognize excellence in writing and offers support to emerging artists by fostering their talents.

Pasek and Paul are the team behind A Christmas Story, The Musical!, which will have an upcoming five-city national tour for the holiday season, launching in Hershey, PA in November.

Other current projects from the songwriting team include a musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach and Dogfight, a new musical commissioned by Lincoln Center Theatre. Both are graduates of The University of Michigan.
