Bare Composer Damon Intrabartolo Has Died

Damon Intrabartolo, coauthor of the popular pop opera Bare, died suddenly in Arizona on August 13. He was 39 years old.
Together with lyricist and book cowriter Jon Hartmere, Intrabartolo composed Bare, a coming-of-age story about two young men who fall in love at a Catholic boarding school and are forced to hide their secret affair. The work premiered at the Hudson Theatre in Los Angeles where it received a 2001 Ovation Award, an L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award, and an L.A. Weekly Award. In 2004, Bare moved off-Broadway, where it ran from March 25-May 27 at the American Theatre of Actors (Chernuchin Theatre). The work was revived off-Broadway in 2012 at New World Stages, though Intrabartolo was not involved with that production.
Intrabartolo studied at the University of Southern California but did not graduate, according to published reports. Working with film composer and editor John Ottman for 13 years, Intrabartolo orchestrated and conducted the soundtracks to such films as Halloween H20, X2: X-Men United, Superman Returns, Fantastic Four, and the underscore of Dreamgirls.
Intrabartolo was also the coauthor of the musicals Ann E. Wrecksick and The Odyssey of the Bulimic Orphans and Ride…a Pop Fable.
