Maura Tierney Reveals Why NBC Must Postpone Parenthood

Maura Tierney has said she will undergo surgery for a treatable breast tumor, causing NBC to postpone the debut of its new series Parenthood to midseason, according to published reports.

In the series, based on the 1989 movie of the same name, Tierney plays a cash-strapped single mother who moves with her teenage kids back into her childhood home. The show also stars Peter Krause, Craig T. Nelson, Dax Shepard, Bonnie Bedelia, Monica Potter, Erika Christensen, and Sarah Ramos.

Tierney starred Off-Broadway in Three Changes and Some Girl(s). She is best known for her work on the NBC series’ E.R. and NewsRadio.
