Stephen Buntrock, John Scherer, Paul Vogt et al. Set for Paper Mill’s Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum

Paper Mill Playhouse has announced casting for its production of the musical, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, to run March 16-April 10, with an opening on March 20. Mark Waldrop will direct, with choreography by Vince Pesce.

With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, the musical is set in Ancient Rome, and revolves around Pseudolus, a slave who must win his freedom by playing matchmaker for his master.

Paul Vogt will star as Pseudolus, with the cast also including Stephen Berger (Marcus Lycus), Justin Bowen (Hero), Stephen Buntrock (Miles Gloriosus), Chet Carlin (Erronius),Chelsea Krombach (Philia), Beth McVey (Domina), John Scherer (Hysterium), and Greg Vinkler (Senex).

The ensemble will include Kristine Bendul, Nicole Benoit, Krisitine Covillo, Ryan Dietz, Michael Timothy Howell, Anthony Johnson, Liz McKendry, Anne Otto, Chondra L. Profit, Lara Seibert, and Bret Shuford.

The creative team will feature Ray Klausen (scenic designer), Matthew Hemesath (costume designer), F. Mitchell Dana (lighting designer), Randy Hansen (sound designer), Tom Helm (music supervisor), Ed Goldschneider (music director), and Robert Meffe (associate music director).
