Deanna Dunagan, Derek Jacobi, Patrick Stewart Among Olivier Award Nominees

Nominations have been announced for London’s Laurence Olivier Awards, which will be presented on March 8 at the Grovesnor House Hotel.

The Donmar Warehouse led the pack with a total of 13 nominations, including five nods for its revival of Piaf (Including a Best Actress nod for Elena Roger), four nods for its revival of The Chalk Garden (with both Margaret Tyzack and Penelope Wilton competing for Best Actress), and two each for its productions of Ivanov (including a Best Supporting Actor nod for Kevin R. McNally), and Twelfth Night (including a Best Actor nod for Derek Jacobi).

The Steppenwolf production of Tracy Letts’ August: Osage County, presented at the National, is competing for Best New Play, Deanna Dunagan for Best Actress, Best Company Performance, and Best Set Design.

The Broadway-bound revival of Alan Ayckbourn’s The Norman Conquests also received four nominations, including Best Revival, Best Company Performance, Best Supporting Actor for Paul Ritter, and Best Costume Design.

Other shows with multiple nominations include Black Watch, Brief Encounter, and The Histories. Acting nominees on the dramatic side include David Bradley (No Man’s Land), Lindsay Duncan (That Face) Adam Godley (Rain Man), Oliver Ford Davies (Hamlet), and Patrick Stewart (Hamlet).

On the musical side, multiple nominations were given to the productions of Jersey Boys, La Cage Aux Folles, Marguerite, Sunset Boulevard, West Side Story, and Zorro.
