Full casting has been announced for Terrence McNally’s Golden Age, which will premiere at the Philadelphia Theatre Company running January 22 -February 14, followed by a run from March 12-April 4 at the Kennedy Center. Austin Pendleton will direct the production.

Golden Age takes place backstage at the Théâtre-Italien in Paris on the evening of January 24, 1835, as Vincenzo Bellini’s opera, I Puritani premieres.

The company will feature Rebecca Brooksher (Grisi), Jeffrey Carlson (Bellini), Roe Hartrampf (Florimo), Marc Kudisch (Tamburini), Hoon Lee (Lablache), Christopher Michael McFarland (Rubini), Dante Mignucci (Page), and Amanda Warren (Malibran). The creative team will feature Santo Loquasto (scenic design), Richard St. Clair (costume design), Jason Lyons (lighting design), and Ryan Rumery (sound design).

Golden Age will be presented as part of the Kennedy Center’s Nights at the Opera, a five-week event featuring three of the playwright’s works performed concurrently on three Kennedy Center stages. As previously announced, the series will also include Master Class (March 25-April 18), directed by Stephen Wadsworth and starring Tyne Daly, and The Lisbon Traviata (March 20-April 11).
