(© Davidgallo.com) | The winners of American Theatre Wing's 2007 Henry Hewes Design Awards have been announced. A formal ceremony will take place at Sardi's on November 15.
David Gallo won for the set design of Radio Golf; Clint Ramos won for the costume design of The Madras House, Kevin Adams won for the lighting design of Spring Awakening, and Kevin Cunningham won for the projection design (in the category of "Notable Effects") of Losing Something.
In addition, a special award for achievement in design was given to the 11 designers of The Coast of Utopia, including set designers Bob Crowley and Scott Pask, costume designer Catherine Zuber, and lighting designers Brian MacDevitt, Kenneth Posner, and Natasha Katz.
A total of 66 artists were nominated for their work in 51 productions, including Anna Louizos, David Korins, Eugene Lee, John Lee Beatty, Santo Loquasto, Jane Greenwood, Jess Goldstein, William Ivey Long, Christopher Akerlind, Donald Holder, Tom Watson, Andromache Chalfant, David Rockwell, Willa Kim, Howell Binkley, and Tyler Micoleau.
The Henry Hewes Design Awards Committee includes theater critics Jeffrey Eric Jenkins, David Barbour; Tish Dace, Michael Feingold, Glenda Frank, Mario Fratti, and Joan Ungaro.
