Complete Cast Announced for Goodman's Turn of the Century

Complete casting has been announced for the Goodman Theatre's production of Turn of the Century, a new musical by Tony Award winners Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, to run September 19-October 26. Tommy Tune will direct.

The show focuses on a down-on-her-luck singer named Dixie Wilson and a womanizing piano player named Billy Clark. At the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve 1999, the century turns, but in the wrong direction: the duo is catapulted back in time, before the hit songs of the 20th century have been created. Together, Billy and Dixie co-opt the songs that make the whole world sing, becoming the stars they've dreamed of being.

In addition to the previously announced Jeff Daniels (Billy Clark) and Rachel York (Dixie Wilson), the production will feature Rachel de Benedet (Phyllis Hartoonian/Lily Van Deusen), Rebecca Finnegan (Shirley/Lena Baline), Kevin Gudahl (Harry Van Deusen), and Ron Orbach (Arif Hartoonian/Max Dreyfus/Moses Baline). Jonah Rawitz and Matthew Gold will share the role of Isreal Baline, and the ensemble includes Nicholas Belton, Jessica Leigh Brown, McKinley Carter, Sara Edwards, Adam Eses, Rebecca Finnegan, Lauren Haughton, Pat McRoberts, Jeff Parker, James Rank, Tommy Rapley, John Sanders, Aléna Watters, Kristen Beth Williams and swings Michael Parker Ayers and Molly A. Curry.

The creative team includes Noah Racey (choreographer), Michael Biagi (music director), Walt Spangler (set), Dona Granata (costumes), Natasha Katz (lighting), Tom Morse (sound), and Steve Orich (orchestrations).

Brickman and Elice previously co-authored Jersey Boys. A nine-time Tony Award winner, Tune's many Broadway credits include The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, My One and Only, The Will Rogers Follies, and Nine.
