Sheryl Crow's Diner Announces Casting

Arlington, Virginia's Signature Theatre has announced casting for its upcoming world premiere production of Diner, a new musical adaptation of the 1982 film.

Set in Baltimore in 1959, the story follows a circle of childhood friends who reunite as adults for a wedding. Three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall will direct and choreograph the production, which features a score by nine-time Grammy Award winner Sheryl Crow and a book by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Barry Levinson, who penned and directed the original film.

The ensemble cast will feature Whitney Bashor (The Bridges of Madison County) as Barbara, Bryan Fenkart (Memphis) as Modell, Aaron Finley (Rock of Ages) as Billy, Josh Grisetti (Enter Laughing) as Shrevie, Erika Henningsen (Show Boat: Live from Lincoln Center) as Beth, Derek Klena (Wicked) as Boogie, Adam Kantor (The Last Five Years) as Eddie, Tess Soltau (The Addams Family) as Elyse, Matthew James Thomas (Pippin) as Fenwick, and John Schiappa (Rocky) as Older Boogie.

Performances will run from December 9-January 25, 2015, at Signature Theatre’s MAX Theatre.
