Catherine O'Hara, Eric McCormack, and More at Dear Evan Hansen's Toronto Opening
The Tony-winning musical heads to Canada.
Emmy winners Catherine O'Hara (Schitt's Creek) and Eric McCormack (Will & Grace) were among the stars at the recent opening of Dear Evan Hansen at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto.
The cast is led by Robert Markus in the title role, alongside Jessica Sherman as Heidi Hansen, Claire Rankin as Cynthia Murphy, Evan Buliung as Larry Murphy, Sean Patrick Dolan as Connor Murphy, Stephanie La Rochelle as Zoe Murphy, Alessandro Costantini as Jared Kleinman, and Shakura Dickson as Alana Beck. The cast also includes Zachary Noah Piser (Evan alternate), along with understudies Erin Breen, Malinda Carroll, Jay Davis, David Jeffery, Laura Mae Nason, and Kaitlyn Santa Juana.
Dear Evan Hansen is described as follows: "A letter that was never meant to be seen, a lie that was never meant to be told, a life he never dreamed he could have. Evan Hansen is about to get the one thing he's always wanted: a chance to finally fit in."
The winner of six 2017 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Dear Evan Hansen features a book by Tony Award winner Steven Levenson, a score by Oscar, Tony, and Grammy Award-winning composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and direction by four-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif.
