Renée Taylor is an Emmy Award-winning actress and Academy Award-nominated screenwriter whose celebrated career spans stage, screen and television. She began as a stand-up comic in New York’s hottest nightclubs before co-writing and co-starring in the Oscar-nominated film Lovers and Other Strangers with her husband and creative partner, Joe Bologna. Together, they wrote more than 20 plays and screenplays, including the Broadway hit It Had to Be You and Made for Each Other. On television, Taylor is perhaps most beloved for her role as Sylvia Fine—the flamboyant, quick-witted mother of Fran Drescher’s character on the hit sitcom The Nanny. She has also appeared in Curb Your Enthusiasm, How I Met Your Mother and many others, earning acclaim for her fearless humor, impeccable timing, and magnetic presence.
