About This Show

Starring Lucky, the Great Fire of Chicago Featuring over a dozen talented students from New York University’s Undergraduate Drama Department Curated by Dr. Lynn Sally.

Burlesque has become canonized as a “legitimate” source of intellectual inquiry as students from New York University’s Undergraduate Drama Department enrolled in “The History of American Burlesque” have learned. Come see what you knew all along: burlesque is savvy, sexy, and smart. Students will perform original and historically-based songs, dances, and skits in the burlesque spirit of parody, gender inversion, and the deconstruction of the split between highbrow and lowbrow culture. The evening with be hosted by Lucky, the burlesque legend of stage and screen. Come see stars be born!

This evening is part of Galapagos Art Spaces’ SMUT, a provocative new weekly series that presents explicit art side by side with intellectual discourse.
