Performance artist Penny Arcade will bring her show New York Values to The Marsh, November 20-22.

The piece looks at what is described as “the death of Bohemia,” mixing music, movement and frequent dance breaks with observations about the current commoditization of rebellion and an exploration of the nobility of failure in a society obsessed with youth and success.

Arcade debuted with John Vaccaro’s Playhouse of The Ridiculous at 17 years of age, and was a Warhol Factory superstar at 19, featured in the Warhol film Women In Revolt. Her performance pieces include Old Queen, Bitch! Dyke! Faghag! Whore!, and Bad Reputation. A book of her scripts, titled Bad Reputation was published this fall by Semiotexte/MIT.
