Marcie Dodd, Alli Mauzey to Be New Stars of San Francisco’s Wicked

Marcie Dodd will assume the role of Elphaba and Alli Mauzey will take on the role of Glinda in the San Francisco production of Wicked, running at the Orpheum Theatre, beginning with the June 29 performance. They will replace departing actresses Eden Espinosa and Kendra Kasselbaum, respectively.

Dodd recently launched the 2nd national tour of the musical, also playing the role of Elphaba, which she has also performed on on Broadway, with the Los Angeles company, and with the 1st national tour. Among her other credits are Hairspray, We Will Rock You, and Grease.

Mauzey recently returned to the Broadway company of Wicked. Among her other credits are her Theatre World Award-winning performance in Cry-Baby, as well as Hairspray on Broadway and on tour, and Cinderella for the Nashville Symphony Orchestra.

The company also features Jody Gelb (Madame Morrible), Tom McGowan (The Wizard), Cliffton Hall (Fiyero), Paul Slade Smith (Doctor Dillamond), Deedee Magno Hall (Nessarose), and Etai BenShlomo (Boq).

Based on Gregory Maguire’s novel of the same name, Wicked features a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.
