Young Frankenstein to Close January 4; National Tour to Launch in September

The musical Young Frankenstein will play its final performance on Sunday, January 4 at the Hilton Theatre. It will have played 30 previews and 484 regular performances.

The show, directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman, features a book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan, based on Brooks’ film, and music and lyrics by Brooks. It currently stars Roger Bart, Shuler Hensley, Beth Leavel, Fred Applegate, Cory English, Michele Ragusa, and Kelly Sullivan.

“In these uncertain economic times, my partners and I have decided to end our run on Broadway and focus our efforts on the first national tour, which will launch in September 2009,” said the show’s lead producer, Robert F.X. Sillerman. No further information on the tour was announced.
