The New Yiddish Rep will also present the new play ”Land of Fire” in December.
The New Yiddish Rep's critically acclaimed Yiddish-language production of Samuel Beckett's Waiting For Godot will return to the stage for a three-performance holiday season engagement at Theater for the New City. The production will run December 23-25.
Directed by Moshe Yassur, the production will star original cast members Shane Baker and David Mandelbaum as Vladimir and Estragon, alongside Russian performance artist Psoy Korolenko as Pozzo and Ilan Kwittken as Lucky. Shane Baker translated the text into Yiddish.
Additionally, the organization will present the American premiere of Mario Diament's Land of Fire, running December 16-January 3. Dagmar Stansova, Mihran Shlougian, Scott Zimmerman, Naci Baybura, Marilyn Lucchi, and David Mandelbaum star in the show, which features sets by Mark Marcante, lighting by Gertjan Houben, sound by Ellen Mandel, and an English translation by Simone Zarmati Diament.
