The production at Center Theatre Group was announced as part of the 111th season of National Yiddish Theatre Folksiene (NYTF).

National Yiddish Theatre Folksiene’s hit production of Fiddler on the Roof will perform in Los Angeles at Center Theatre Group’s Ahmanson Theatre February 13 through March 14, 2027. Steven Skybell (currently in the free Shakespeare in the Park production of The Winter’s Tale) will reprise his acclaimed performance as Tevye, and Jackie Hoffman will reprise her role as Yente the Matchmaker.
The classic musical by Jerry Bock (music), Sheldon Harnick (lyrics), and Joseph Stein (book) is about life in the shtetl Anatevka and the cultural clashes that come about with the arrival of modernity. This production from director Joel Grey is performed entirely in Yiddish (with English supertitles), giving audiences a sense of the language that would have actually been spoken in Anatevka.
The biggest hit in NYTF’s recent history, Yiddish Fiddler played an extended run in 2018 at the theater’s home at the Museum of Jewish Heritage before transferring uptown to Stage 42. It returned for a special holiday engagement in 2022.
The production, which was previously announced as part of CTG’s 2026-27 season, is the major production in NYTF’s forthcoming 111th season, which will include concert stagings of Di Yam Gazlonim! (Pirates of Penzance in Yiddish, with English supertitles) on Sun Oct 25 at 2pm, The Megile of Itizik Manger on March 27, 2027, and Amid Falling Walls on May 2, 2027.
