Classic Stage Company celebrated its 50th anniversary at its annual gala on Monday, April 23, at the Bohemian National Hall. Artistic director John Doyle and board chair Lynn Angelson were honored at the event, which featured performances spanning Doyle's New York theater career. Performers for the evening included Roland, George Abud, Keith Buterbaugh, Karl Josef Co, Matthew Deming, Ben Diskant, Steven Eng, David Michael Garry, Megan Masako Haley, Lee Harrington, Amy Justman, Emily Mechler, Orville Mendoza, Kelvin Moon Loh, Megan Loomis, Jane Pfitsch, Leenya Rideout, Fred Rose, Bruce Sabath, Thom Sesma, Antoine L. Smith, Rema Webb, Elisa Winter, Jessica Tyler Wright, and Katrina Yaukey.
Classic Stage Company's current production is Summer and Smoke starring Marin Ireland under the direction of Jack Cummings III. The play, described as "the story of a local minister's daughter who walks the line between piety and sensuality with the neighborhood doctor who grew up next door," opens May 3 for its run through May 20.
