Watch Keira Knightley as Émile Zola's Tragic Heroine in Thérèse Raquin
Roundabout Theatre Company has released video footage from Thérèse Raquin, its currently running adaptation of the Émile Zola classic. The production, which opens tonight at Studio 54, stars Keira Knightley in her Broadway debut.
Helen Edmundson's new adaptation is directed by Evan Cabnet. In addition to Knightley, the cast features two-time Tony and Drama Desk Award winner Judith Light (The Assembled Parties) as Madame Raquin, Tony Award winner Gabriel Ebert (Casa Valentina) as Camille, and Matt Ryan (Constantine) as Laurent. David Patrick Kelly (Once), Jeff Still (Fish in the Dark), Mary Wiseman (An Octoroon), Glynis Bell (The Winslow Boy), Alex Mickiewicz (Robin Hood), Sara Topham (The Importance of Being Earnest), and Ray Virta (Hedda Gabler) complete the cast.
In the drama, Thérèse has made peace with her loveless marriage to a weak man when her world is turned upside down by the entrance of Laurent. Unable to ignore their passion, the pair sets off on a violent path that may have far worse consequences for the perpetrators than for the victims.
The show's creative team includes Beowulf Boritt (set design), Jane Greenwood (costume design), Keith Parham (lighting design), and Josh Schmidt (sound design).
