Waitress, Disaster! Choreographers to Take Part in Broadway Dance Lab

Broadway Dance Lab, a choreography-incubator program supporting new works of dance-driven theater, has announced that Lorin Latarro (Waitress), Larry Keigwin (If/Then), and JoAnn M. Hunter (Disaster!) will take part in the program's new cycle. Also participating are Rosie Herrera, Al Blackstone, and Denzel Taylor. The lab will culminate with a benefit presentation on October 4 at Judson Memorial Church.
Joining Broadway Dance Lab as dancers are Evan Autio, Justina Aveyard, Melanie J. Comeau, Chloe Davis, David Ferguson, Kory Geller, Mary Kate Hartung, Alex J. Hathaway, Marissa Palley, Nicholas Ranauro, Clifford Williams, and Latra Wilson.
Founded in 2012 by Josh Prince (Beautiful — The Carole King Musical), Broadway Dance Lab's mission is to support the development of new work by providing choreographers and their collaborators with dancers, space, and the time needed to practice their craft and test their ideas. The nonprofit works under the guidance of a distinguished advisory board, whose members include Tony winners Donna McKechnie, Chita Rivera, and Ben Vereen.
"The securing of dancers and figuring out how to do your own prep is a vicious learning curve which I'm still not on top of," said choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler (Cats, Hamilton), who took part in the previous Broadway Dance Lab cycle. "Broadway Dance Lab gives me a feeling of ease because I know everything I need to work is going to be there. The controlled environment provides so much for the creative mind."
