Lincoln Center’s American Songbook series, which celebrates the best in American singing on songwriting, has announced its 2016 season. Top performers and rising stars will perform in this season's events, which will take place at three Lincoln Center venues. This year, the Lincoln Center’s American Songbook series will expand to Mesa Arts Center, in Mesa, Arizona.

The Appel Room series will open with Broadway's Vanessa Williams (After Midnight) performing in the Frederick P. Rose Hall space on January 20. The series, which will continue through February 27, will also include Tony winner Rita Moreno (The Ritz); the songs of Todd Almond, with special guest Courtney Love; married Broadway favorites Jerry Dixon and Mario Cantone; Broadway couple Andy Karl and Orfeh; and gender illusionist Charles Busch, among others.

On March 16, American Songbook shifts to the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse in the Samuel B. & David Rose Building for six performances, which will include Broadway family the Cooper Clan, featuring Tony Award winner Chuck Cooper (Amazing Grace) and his children Lilli, Eddie, and Alex; Liz Callaway (The Look of Love) singing the songs of Maltby & Shire, and more.

For the third time, American Songbook will partner with Prudential Investment Management for an online program, Invest in the Future of American Song, through which the audience selects the performer to open the American Songbook season at the David Rubenstein Atrium on January 19. Beginning on November 16, audience members will vote for their favorite artist via social media.
