The Tony-winning Broadway production of Stephen Karam's The Humans will play its final performance at Broadway's Schoenfeld Theatre on January 15, 2017. The production opened February 18 at the Helen Hayes Theatre following an off-Broadway run at Roundabout Theatre Company's Laura Pels Theatre. Performance began at the Schoenfeld on August 9, 2016.

A production spokesperson said, "The Humans will continue at the Schoenfeld through January 15. This is a play that has had wildly successful runs at three different New York theaters over the past year. We'll see what happens next."

Also the recipient of 2016 Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and New York Drama Critics Circle Awards, The Humans follows Erik (played by 2016 Tony winner Reed Birney), who has broken with tradition and brought his Pennsylvania family to celebrate Thanksgiving at his daughter's apartment in lower Manhattan. As darkness falls, family tensions reach a peak, and the heart and horrors of the clan are exposed. The company also includes 2016 Tony winner Jayne Houdyshell, Cassie Beck, Lauren Klein, Arian Moayed, and Sarah Steele.

Joe Mantello directs the production, which features a creative team made up of David Zinn (sets), Sarah Laux (costumes), Justin Townsend (lighting), and Fitz Patton (sound). The production had its New York premiere off-Broadway at Roundabout Theatre Company's Laura Pels Theatre in 2015.

The Humans is also the winner of a 2016 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble.

Next up for the Schoenfeld is the new musical Come From Away, which begins performances February 18.
