Tony Award Productions and CBS have announced a new agreement that will see Broadway’s biggest awards show broadcast on the television network through 2032. This season’s Tonys, the 80th annual awards, will be broadcast live on Sunday, June 13, 2027.

The Tony Awards has been broadcast on CBS for the past 48 years, starting in 1978.

“We look forward to marking the 80th anniversary of the Tony Awards with our best show yet,” said Heather Hitchens, President and CEO of the American Theatre Wing, and Jason Laks, President of The Broadway League.

Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment added, “CBS has a celebrated history of supporting the creative arts on television and the Tony Awards are a cornerstone of that past, present and future.”

Billionaire David Ellison acquired CBS in August 2025, when his company Skydance Media completed a $8 billion merger with Paramount Global.

Additional information about the 80th annual Tony Awards will be announced in the coming weeks.
