Tony-Winning Passing Strange Author Stew Will Bring His Song Stylings to 54 Below

Singer-songwriter Stew, who both starred in and won a Best Book Tony Award for his musical Passing Strange, will play Broadway supper club 54 Below on March 7 and 8 to show off his new material and some old favorites.

The New Stew Review will feature tunes from Passing Strange, a musical that was immortalized as concert film by Spike Lee after it closed at the Belasco Theatre. Stew will also feature his new works The Total Bent, Family Album, and Resurrection City. Aside from his theatrical work, Stew is the front man of both a self-titled band and the group The Negro Problem.

Stew describes the 54 Below show like this: "After five years spent meditating in the wilds of Brooklyn's Prospect Park, I am excited to return to the Broadway scene with a preview of new songs from upcoming shows, old favorites, a big band, and a bundle of special guests, for two nights of suspense, grooves and surprises."
