Kinky Boots opened at Broadway’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre on April 4 to high praise from New York theater critics. Inspired by the acclaimed British film and directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, the musical stars 2013 Tony Award nominee Stark Sands (American Idiot) as Charlie Price, a young man who must live up to his father’s legacy and save his family’s shoe factory after his father’s sudden death. When a fabulous drag queen named Lola (2013 Tony Award winner Billy Porter) arrives in need of a pair of sturdy stilettos, the pair realize they have more in common than they ever thought possible.
