Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts will co-star in the new movie Larry Crowne, according to a report in Variety. Hanks will direct from his own script.
The movie centers on a middle-aged man being forced to find a new career, and will mark the second time the performers have appeared together. They previously shared the screen in Charlie Wilson’s War.
Roberts made her Broadway debut in Richard Greenberg’s Three Days of Rain. She won an Academy Award for her portrayal of the title character in Erin Brockovich. Her other screen credits include Steel Magnolias, Pretty Woman, Sleeping With the Enemy, Runaway Bride, and Closer.
Hanks has won Academy Awards for his performances in Forest Gump and Philadelphia. He has been nominated three other times. His last directorial credit is That Thing You Do. He began his career on the stage, working frequently with the Great Lakes Theater Festival in Cleveland.
