TUTA Theatre Chicago has announced their 2009-2010 season. Brecht’s 1919 Bavarian folk comedy, The Wedding, January 14-February 14, will be directed by Zeljko Djukic with original music by Jesse Terrill. When nine middle class self-important guests converge on a young bride and groom’s apartment, each one slowly unravels the horrors of living a pretentious life.
TUTA will present the world premiere of an adaptation loosely based on Brecht’s Baal, May 20-June 20, with music by Josh Schmidt (Adding Machine) and libretto/book by Ugljesa Sajtinac (Huddersfield). The piece will explore themes of stardom and power and the politically charged subject of arts in times of economic crisis.
