
The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey has announced casting for Molière’s The Misanthrope, June1-26. Artistic Director Bonnie J. Monte will direct the production, which will open the company’s 49th season.
The Misanthrope features Alceste, a fallen idealist whose obsession with honesty and his rejections of society’s social conventions wreak havoc on his life. The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey’s production will have its opening night 345 years to the day after the production first premiered in Paris in 1666.
The cast will feature John Patrick Hayden, Elizabeth A. Davis, Jon Barker, Marcus Dean Fuller, Kersti Bryan, Matt Bradford Sullivan, Roger Casey, Einar Gunn, Louisa Braden Johnson, and David Joseph Regelmann.
The creative team will include set designer Adam Miecielica, lighting designer Tony Galaska, and costume designer Paul Canada.
