The Acting Company will present Shakespeare’s Hamlet in a modern verse translation by two-time OBIE winner Lisa Peterson, directed by Chika V. Ike, running May 20-24 at Sheen Center.

The 75-minute adaptation centers Hamlet’s struggle to decide how to respond to his father’s death and his mother’s remarriage.

Prior to the Sheen Center run, Hamlet will be performed across NYC area middle and high schools, including St. Catherine Academy, Edward R. Murrow High School, and I.S. 73, April 29-May 15. Each in-school residency includes a post-show discussion and offers the Acting Company’s Learning Through Theater workshops.

The cast includes Caroline Campos as Horatio/Ophelia, Rob Kellogg as Laertes, Marquis D. Gibson as Polonius, Breezy Leigh as Gertrude, Marion Grey as Hamlet, and Erick Lindsey as Claudius.
