Signature Theatre has announced upcoming supplemental programs at The Pershing Square Signature Center, which are intended to invite theatregoers to go deeper into the world of a play, and the world of the artists behind it.
Programs will include the films Falls the Shadow – The Life & Times of Athol Fugard, Paris, Texas, and Tsotsi at Signature Cinema, a showcase of films written by Signature playwrights and films that explore the “world of the play” currently in production.
Falls the Shadow, set for Monday, August 20 at 7pm, is a documentary by Tony Palmer featuring extended footage of Fugard’s plays. There will be special talkback with Fugard after the screening. Paris, Texas features a screenplay by 2012-13 Season Legacy Playwright-in-Residence Sam Shepard and is directed by Wim Wenders. Tsotsi is based on the novel by 2012 Athol Fugard and written and directed by Gavin Hood.
In addition, post-performance talkbacks with company members and staff are scheduled for Sam Shepard’s Heartless on August 15, August 21, August 30, and September 11 and Athol Fugard’s The Train Driver on August 23, August 28, September 4, and September 20.
Finally, Signature’s bi-monthly book club will meet on September 5 at 7:30 pm to discuss Sam Shepard’s Day Out of Days.
