Ars Nova kicked off its 2013 catalogue of productions on January 30 with the opening night of
The Netflix Plays, a series of short works and live music from the organization’s Play Group. Inspired by the recommendation categories on the popular film rental site, the production is currently running at Ars Nova through February 9.
Leading the cast are Eddie Kaye Thomas (American Pie), Sarah Steele (Slowgirl), Drew McVety (Cyrano de Bergerac), Kyle Beltran (In the Heights), Deonna Bouye (Barrio Grrrl!), Nadia Bowers (Doubt), Megan Byrne (Julie & Julia), and Ben Graney (When the Rain Stops Falling), along with Brandon Kyle Goodman, Ryan Henry, Chris Moses Kinlow, and Jo Lampert, who provide live music.
Featured playwrights include Pulitzer Prize finalist Stephen Karam (Sons of the Prophet), Jon Kern (Modern Terrorism), Josh Koenigsberg (Herman Kline’s Midlife Crisis), Nick Gandiello (Travis Winters), Dipika Guha (The Betrothed), Michael Mitnick (Sex Lives of Our Parents), Rachel Bonds (Bring Your Kid to Work), Sarah Burgess (The Tenant), Sarah Gancher (Something’s Got Ahold of My Heart), Sharyn Rothstein (March), A. Zell Williams (Blood/Money), and Bess Wohl (Barcelona).
