Sophia Anne Caruso to Star in Duncan Sheik Musical Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen

Sophia Anne Caruso, who originated the role of Lydia Deetz in Beetlejuice on Broadway, will star in Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen, a new musical with music and lyrics by Tony and Grammy Award-winning Spring Awakening composer Duncan Sheik and book by Leah Nanako Winkler.

Based on the manga (graphic novel) Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen by Moyoco Anno and directed and choreographed by Tony, Olivier, and Emmy Award winner Rob Ashford, Memoirs will run September 25-January 3, 2027, with an opening night set for October 15, at the new venue the Night Egg at the Culture Club.

Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen, the first manga to be developed into an English-language American musical, will feature music supervision, vocal, and incidental music arrangements by Or Matias.

Newly announced members of the creative team are three-time Tony Award-winning scenic designer Scott Pask, eight-time Tony Award-winning costume designer Catherine Zuber, lighting designer Brian Tovar, Tony Award-winning sound designer Cody Spencer, and hair and wig designer Tom Watson.

Caruso plays Colette, a witty young dreamer in 20th-century Paris, who finds her power through writing, chronicling the fantasies, confessions, and private sorrows of her eccentric clients, slowly transforming herself from object to observer.
