Signature Theatre has announced several special events in connection with Stephen Adly Guirgis's Our Lady of 121st Street, now running at the Pershing Square Signature Center.

Directed by Phylicia Rashad in her New York directorial debut, Our Lady of 121st Street is described as follows: "After the death of the beloved Sister Rose, a group of her former students return to their Harlem neighborhood to pay respects. But at the funeral home, there's a problem — her dead body has been stolen. An irreverently brash and insightful dark comedy, Stephen Adly Guirgis's Our Lady of 121st Street paints a vivid comic portrait of what happens when old friends meet old wounds and how old habits die hard."

The Signature Spotlight Series begins with a Page to Stage discussion featuring Residency 1 playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis and Our Lady of 121st Street director Phylicia Rashad on May 17 at 6:30pm at the Signature Café Bar.

The series continues with a Backstage Pass postshow discussion on June 5. The conversation will include Our Lady of 121st Street scenic designer Walt Spangler and costume designer Alexis Forte, who previously collaborated on Stephen Adly Guirgis's Between Riverside and Crazy.

Signature Theatre will also host a Community Discussion around Our Lady of 121st Street on June 9 at 4:30pm. During this roundtable event, attendees will have the chance to share their reactions and explore the play's themes. After a facilitated discussion in small groups, audience members will discuss what they've discovered about the play.

Additional postshow talkbacks with members of the cast and creative team will follow performances on May 10, May 15, May 29, and June 7.

All Signature Spotlight Series events are free and open to the public. Tickets to Signature productions are not required to attend.
