Good Vibrations, the new musical featuring the songs of Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys, will close following the matinee performance on Sunday, April 24. The show, which opened on February 2, will have played 50 previews and 94 regular performances at Broadway’s Eugene O’Neill Theatre.
Directed and choreographed by John Carrafa, with a book by Richard Dresser, Good Vibrations includes such songs as “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” “I Get Around,” “When I Grow Up to Be a Man,” “Surf City,” “Shutdown,” “Be True to Your School,” “Surfin’ USA,” “California Girls,” “Help Me, Rhonda,” and the title song. Among the performers featured in the cast are Tituss Burgess, David Larsen, Kate Reinders, Brandon Wardell, and Jessica-Snow Wilson.
In his review of the production for TheaterMania, David Finkle wrote: “[Beach Boys fans] should be incensed…that cynical Broadway producers and craftspersons working at the bottom of their form thought so little of potential audiences that they expected to con them with a jerry-rigged, dim-witted story.”
