Seth Gelblum and More Named 2016 Recipients of the Tony Honors for Excellence

The Tony Awards Administration Committee has announced the recipients of the 2016 Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre. The awards will be presented on June 6, at a private Tony Honors Cocktail Party at the Paramount Hotel's Diamond Horseshoe in advance of the televised Tony Awards ceremony on June 12.

Established in 1990, the Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre are awarded annually to institutions, individuals, and organizations that have demonstrated extraordinary achievement in theater, but are not eligible in any of the established Tony Award categories.

This year's three honorees are attorney Seth Gelblum, a partner at Loeb & Loeb and the chair of its theater department; vocal coach Joan Lader, consultant at New York University; and costume shop proprietor Sally Ann Parsons, head of costume shop Parsons-Meares.

"The Tony Awards have a long standing tradition of honoring the unsung heroes of our community," said Heather Hitchens, president of the American Theatre Wing, and Charlotte St. Martin, president of the Broadway League. "We are thrilled to present this year’s Honors to three incredible talents, from three very different areas of expertise, who work tirelessly behind the scenes to inspire what you see on the Broadway stage."

The 70th Annual Tony Awards will be held June 12 at the Beacon Theatre and will be broadcast live on CBS. Tony winner James Corden, of CBS' The Late Late Show, will host.
