As previously announced, Hadestown was the top award winner, garnering six awards, including wins for stars Amber Gray and André De Shields, creator Anaïs Mitchell, and director Rachel Chavkin. The musical itself won Outstanding New Broadway Musical.

The Ferryman won Outstanding New Broadway Play. On the off-Broadway front, Suzan-Lori Parks's play White Noise won Outstanding New Off-Broadway Play, and Conor McPherson's Bob Dylan musical Girl From the North Country won Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical. Both works played at the Public Theater, with Oskar Eustis accepting the award on behalf of both.

The puppetry team of King Kong won a Special Achievement Award, as did the York Theatre Company.
