The upcoming Broadway revival of Horton Foote’s The Trip to Bountiful, starring Condola Rashad (Stick Fly), Cuba Gooding, Jr. (Jerry Maguire), Vanessa Williams (Into the Woods), and Cicely Tyson (Sounder), will now begin previews at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on March 30, a day earlier than originally announced.

In The Trip to Bountiful, an elderly woman dreams of returning to her small hometown in Texas one last time, against the wishes of her overprotective son and daughter-in-law. The journey is a heartbreaking but ultimately life-affirming tale that examines the fragility of memory and celebrates the enduring power of hope and faith.

The Trip to Bountiful was originally a made-for-television movie which aired in 1953. It made its Broadway debut later that year. A 1985 film adaptation earned actress Geraldine Page an Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Carrie.
