Sean Hayes Shows Off His Divine Orations in An Act of God

The Almighty makes a pit stop at the Ahmanson Theatre.

God is now inhabiting the body of Emmy Award winner Sean Hayes with Center Theatre Group at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, where the pair will be united through March 13 in An Act of God.

David Javerbaum's 90-minute comedy is inspired by the best-selling book The Last Testament: A Memoir by God as well as by author and playwright Javerbaum's Twitter feed, @TheTweetOfGod.

The play offers the Holy One and His angels (played by David Josefsberg and James Gleason) the chance to expound upon a few Biblical ambiguities, exploring every topic from His omnipotence to His relationship with sports stars and celebrities.

Hayes is best known for his long-running role as Jack McFarland on NBC's hit sitcom Will & Grace, for which he earned an Emmy Award, four SAG Awards, an American Comedy Award, and six Golden Globe nominations. In 2010, he made his Broadway debut opposite Kristin Chenoweth in Promises, Promises. He earned a Tony nomination for his leading performance in the musical and hosted the Tony Awards ceremony that same year.

An Act of God features scenic design by Tony Award winner Scott Pask, costume design by Tony Award nominee David Zinn, lighting design by Tony Award winner Hugh Vanstone, sound design by Drama Desk Award winner Fitz Patton, and projection design by Drama Desk Award winner Peter Nigrini.
