Casting has been announced for the Scena Theater’s production of Kenneth Brannagh’s Public Enemy, to run April 10 – May 16 at the H Street Playhouse. Robert McNamara will direct the production.

Branagh’s play, which is inspired by the 1930s movie of the same name about a gangster’s meteoric rise and fall, unfolds in Belfast during the political “troubles” of the 1980s, where a man fixated on James Cagney finds his life mirroring that of the character Cagney played in the film. The company features Barry McEvoy, Rena Cherry Brown, Daniel Kenner, Annie Grier, John C. Bailey, Mick McGuire, Ian Blackwell Rogers, and Matt Dougherty.

The creative team includes Michael C. Stepowany (scenic design), Marianne Meadows (lighting design), David Crandall (sound design) and Kimberly Dawn Morell (costume design).
