Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the plays selected for its sixth annual Roundabout Underground Reading Series, a five-night event that includes readings of new works written and directed by emerging artists. The Reading Series will feature new works by Saheem Ali, Emily Feldman, Alex Lubischer, Don Nguyen, Ming Peiffer, and Michael Thurber, presented at the Black Box Theatre at The Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre.

Tyne Rafaeli will direct Ming Peiffer's Usual Girls (January 9), which follows Kyeoung from the discoveries of childhood to the realities of adulthood. Will Davis is set to helm Emily Feldman's My Lover Joan (January 10), which watches Joan and her lover as ambition takes her on a surprising journey. Then, Kip Fagan will return to the series to direct Alex Lubischer's Bobbie Clearly (January 11), a play about a small town of Milton, Nebraska.

Also returning is Moritz von Stuelpnagel, who will take the reigns of The Supreme Leader (January 12). Don Nguyen's new work imagines the teenage years of the enigmatic leader of North Korea Kim Jong-Un. Finally, The Booty Call (January 13) will be directed by Saheem Ali, who also provides additional material. With music and lyrics by Michael Thurber, the musical is described as follows: "Most singles in New York would be thrilled to receive a booty call from a woman they’re into, but when Gabe gets a message from Sam, he’s thrown into a tailspin."
