Rik Mayall has withdrawn from the Theatre Royal Bath revival of Michael Frayn’s farce Balmoral due to illness, according to a report on Whatsonstage.com. Steve McNeil has assumed Mayall’s role and will play it until further notice.

Balmoral is set in 1937 in the royal residence of the title, where a warden oversees a commune of recalcitrant writers and a government inspector is about to call. The production is directed by Alan Strachan and, following its run in Bath, will tour the U.K.
