Rhodessa Jones
in The Love Project
Rhodessa Jones and Idris Ackamoor will star in The Love Project, written by the two performers in collaboration with Pearl Cleage and Zaron Burnett, Jr. Harriet Schiffer Scott will direct the production, which will play La MaMa E.T.C., January 29-February 8.
Long-time creative partners and one-time romantic cohorts, Ackamoor and Jones have collaborated for most of their lives in performance, music, dance, and education. For this project, they worked with husband and wife team Burnett and Cleage to create an interactive project that reflects on how various kinds of love — romantic, familial, racial, platonic, spiritual, and sexual — have shaped the four artists’ careers and political context.
