Regina Taylor and Cast of Crowns to Hold Sneak Preview at Pasadena Playhouse

The Pasadena Playhouse will present a special free sneak preview of its production of Crowns, on Saturday, May 9, beginning at Noon. A co-production with Ebony Repertory Theatre, the show begins previews today at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center, and will come to the Pasadena Playhouse, July 10-August 23.

Playwright Regina Taylor, director Israel Hicks, and cast members Clinton Derricks-Carroll, Suzanne Douglas and Angela Wildflower Polk will participate in the sneak preview, as will Ebony Repertory Theatre’s Founder/Producer Wren T. Brown, Pasadena Playhouse Artistic Director Sheldon Epps.

Prior to the sneak-peek presentation, there will be live jazz hosted by The Instrumental Women Project, with entertainment and food provided by Gelson’s Supermarkets in the Courtyard. The pre-show festivities also include free raffles for specially created hats provided by milliner Yvonne Lewis and copies of the coffee table book Crowns: Portraits of Black Women in Church Hats by Michael Cunningham and Craig Marberry (authors) that served as the inspiration for the musical.
