Quick Wit: Linda Powell

Now starring Off-Broadway in Lucrece, Powell tells Christina D’Angelo about her greatest temptation and her favorite hair product.

A famous daddy can possibly get you there, but only talent can keep you there, as Colin Powell’s daughter’s track record proves. Linda Powell, currently staring Off-Broadway in Thornton Wilder’s Lucrece, was last seen on Broadway as Lucia in the Tony-nominated revival of Wilder, Wilder, Wilder. Some highlights of her myriad of Off-Broadway productions over a ten-year period with Willow Cabin Theatre Company include: Denise in Who Will Carry the Word?, Mrs. Jones in Street Scene, and Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. At Second Stage last season she stared in Jar on the Floor, and has also worked with Ensemble Studio Theatre, Theatre for a New Audience, Theatreworks USA, and the RAPP Arts Center. On primetime television she’s been featured on Cosby, Law & Order, Law & Order Special Victims’ Unit, and Sex and the City, as well as on the daytime dramas One Life to Live and As the World Turns. Her film credits include The Best Man, The Astronaut’s Wife, Labor Pains, American Cuisine, Office Killer, and Reversal of Fortune.
