Playwrights Horizons 2017-18 Season to Include Sarah Ruhl, Robert O'Hara, and More

Playwrights Horizons has announced the six productions set for its 2017-18 season.

The season will open with the New York premiere of For Peter Pan on Her 70th Birthday, written by two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist and Tony nominee Sarah Ruhl (Stage Kiss; In the Next Room, or the Vibrator Play). The play had its world premiere at Actors Theatre of Louisville followed by a subsequent production at Berkeley Rep. Directed by Les Waters, the production will feature Tony nominee Kathleen Chalfant (Angels in America), David Chandler (Lost in Yonkers), Ron Crawford (Outside Mullingar), Lisa Emery (Casa Valentina), Tony nominee Daniel Jenkins (Oslo), and Keith Reddin (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike). Preview performances will begin August 18.

Next will be the world premiere of The Treasurer, a Playwrights Horizons commissioned play written by Max Posner (Judy) and directed by David Cromer. Performances will begin in September. Following in December will be the world premiere of another Playwrights Horizons commission, Mankind, written by Robert O'Hara (Bootycandy).

The world premiere of This Flat Earth, written by Lindsey Ferrentino (Ugly Lies the Bone) and directed by Rebecca Taichman, will take the stage in March 2018, followed in April 2018 by the world premiere of Dance Nation, written by by Clare Barron (You Got Older) and directed by Lee Sunday Evans.

Closing out the season will be the world premiere of Log Cabin, a new play by 2015 Pulitzer Prize finalist Jordan Harrison (Marjorie Prime) and directed by Tony winner Pam MacKinnon. Performances will begin in June 2018.
